FREQUENT PSC DEFICIENCIES RELATED TO BWM CONVENTION

The following PSC deficiencies, related to BWM Convention, were found as more frequent in recent PSC inspections and raised as 'Rectify before departure':

  • Improper entries in the Ballast Water Record Book.

  • Inconsistencies between the International Ballast Water Management (IBWM) Certificate and the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Plan about the applicable method used.

  • Ships operate Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) onboard, even with a IBWM Certificate in which only Regulation D-1 applies.
