COOK ISLANDS REQUIRES NEW FIRE CONTROL PLANS ON BOARD

Cook Islands Maritime Authority issued new requirements for fire control plans on Cook Islands flagged ships, in force since 1st of January 2019. Particular for escape route signs and equipment location marking. 

 

The scope is harmonizing the requirements of SOLAS regulations II-2/13, III/9, III/11 and III/20 taking into account the ISO standard 24409 series on ‘Design, location and use of shipboard safety signs, safety-related signs, safety notices and safety markings. The resolution incorporates the ISO graphical symbols without any changes.


Applicable to all ships constructed on or after 1 January 2019 and existing ships which undergo repairs, alterations, modifications and outfitting within the scope of SOLAS Chapters II-2 and/or III, as applicable, on or after 1 January 2019, it should be used in conjunction with resolution A.952(23) and A.1116(30) when drawing up fire control plans.
